Meet the Ironman of Stratstone Hull

Jamie Farr, Service Advisor at Stratstone Hull BMW has earned himself the prestigious title of Ironman.
An extremely disciplined and highly motivated member of the team, Jamie recently competed in the Ironman Competition a multisport event consisting of a 3.8km swim, 180km bike and a 42km run (26.2 miles – a full Marathon).
Winners of the event and each age group within these events are invited to compete in the World Championships in Hawaii held in October each year.
Always ready for a challenge, Jamie was initially intrigued by the event and curious as to whether he could go the distance and so embarked on a gruelling 8 months of preparation which saw him training on average 15 hours per week. All this hard work and effort paid off as we are proud to announce that Jamie achieved an overall position of 85th of 1269 athletes and 15th of 245 in his age group.
Over the moon with the result and coming in over 30 minutes under his projected time it was a dream come true for Jamie and to celebrate he joined other novices with a tattoo of the Ironman symbol to remind themselves of their achievement.
Not content to rest on his laurels, Jamie has since completed in the Helvellyn Triathlon held in the Lake District over a notoriously tough course. It is somewhat shorter than Ironman but due to its location, the swim in Ulswater Lake is extremely cold even with a wetsuit because of the water running off the mountains, and the run up Helvellyn mountain at 3118ft high its Britain’s 3rd highest peak.
Jamie’s last event of the year is the local triathlon – The Humber Sprint in Melton. All the team wish him well !
